Under ARSC 42, The Arizona Rules of Professional Responsibility, licensed lawyers are governed by these written rules of discipline. The Preamble to the rules is an overview of what is expected. As members of the legal profession, we represent clients. We are officers of a state judicial system. We are public citizens having special responsibility for the quality of justice. Whether or not engaging in the actual practice of law, we should conduct ourselves honorably. The Preamble adds definition, context, and consequences to our disciplinary and conduct rules.
